Team Playscheme are doing the National 24 hour 3 Peak Challenge to remember Clara Willow Fox
Clara Willow Fox was taken from us on 6th of
October 2010 by pneumococcal meningitis and septicemia, aged just 9 months.
Stefan, Clara's father works at Playscheme.
As a show of support to Stefan and Claire, and to help a charity which is close to their hearts, some colleagues of Stefan's have decided to embark on the 24 hour Three Peaks Challenge to raise money and awareness.
This challenges encompasses walking up the 3 largest mountains in Great Britain - Snowdon, in Wales (1085m), Scafell Pike, in England (978m) and Ben Nevis, in Scotland (1344m), not to mention travelling for 450+ miles, and all in 24 hours!
The challenge will start on Friday 3rd June, continue through the night and finish at about tea-time on Saturday the 4th June.
This is obviously a large undertaking, both logistically and physically, so we would love you to be able to support us with a donation to the Clara Willow Fox Forever Fund.
We will be keeping this site up-to date with photos and journal entries, detailing our training and preparation for the big day, so you can see exactly what we're doing to achieve our goal.
Our team consists of;
Stefan Juffs
Steve Paylor
Becky Paylor
Jo Wadsworth
Simon Mountain
Simon Woellner
Damian Krzywicki
Lee Thurston
Louise Thurston
This page acts as the sponsorship page for all of the above, and anyone wishing to sponsor Lee Thurston for the Edinburgh half marathon should also use this page.
Thank-you for reading.
Just a quick update to say now the aches and pains are subsiding, we've started to collect all your your very kind donations and we're very excited at the thought of our total creeping upwards towards our £5000 target.
We got a fantastic amount of sponsors so it's taking a little while to get round everybody!
Once again, thanks so much. We will update again once we have something approaching a final figure.
WE DID IT!
7th June 2011
Well we did it!
Three mountains conquered!
It was very hard work, we encountered a puncture, tummy bugs, vomitting, blisters, aches and pains and traffic jams but it was all worth it.
We just missed out on the 24 hours due to the puncture and the North Wales traffic but we're all still immensely proud of ourselves - it was quite a gruelling few hours.
Speical mention must go to our drivers, Steve Danby and Rob Matthewman who guided us safely around the 998.5 miles, from England to Scotland, back into England, down to Wales and then back into England! The journey was as stress-free as could be. They even had flasks of hot water ready for us when we came down the mountain!
Also huge thanks is given to John and Carol Danby who helped massively by donating the minibus, giving the walkers the time off work and contributing to the hospitality after the challenge. We really couldn't have done it without them.
Finally, we were all honoured to support Meningitis UK and in particular, Stefan, Claire and Clara, and we hope the sponsorship, once we collect it all, can make a difference. We think we could have raised about £5000 once we follow up our offline donations, so this is absolutely wonderful.
Thank-you to absolutely everyone who has supported us.

1 Week To Go!
27th May 2011
So, the big day is almost here!
We're all excited and nervous ahead of the challenge and were busy putting together the last touches to our itinerary and getting ourselves physically and mentally ready!
We've had some very generous sponsorship and support already, but there's still time to donate if you'd like to help a fantastic cause.

1 month to go!
4th May 2011
So, there's just one month to go before our big challenge! We're getting excited, but also a little nervous.
The mini-bus and hotel for afterwards is all now booked so we're ready to go!
We've got a few more training walks planned, incuding the 25 mile Yorkshire 3 Peaks this weekend. However, some of the team are suffering from injuries so they're desperately trying to get back to full fitness as soon as possible.
Keep checking back for more progress reports.
2 months to go!
8th April 2011
Well with just two months to go, the challenge is gathering momentum!
Thanks to very generous people we're gathering lots of sponsorship money 'off-line' in the old fashioned way, and we've all been inspired by the support.
We're heading up to Scafell Pike again tomorrow to try a different (and hopefully quicker!) route as part of our training.
A lot of us are out walking every weekend between now and the challenge and are trying to get as fit as can be in a whole host of ways, from running to Zumba, and from Nordic Walking to cycling!
As well as trying to prepare our bodies, we're starting to plan the logistics; mini-bus, hotel, food and supplies, so there's no backing out now, despite all the blisters!
Please do donate to the cause and support us, and check back for more pictures after this weekend's walk.
Scafell Pike done!
10th March 2011
So, last weekend the team walked up Scafell Pike, England's highest mountain at 978m! We were lucky with the weather and it was a great day.
However, it left all of us in no doubt as to what a large undertaking the 3 peak challenge is, as we will have to get fitter and improve our pace to do Scafell Pike in the allotted 5 hours, which we are all determined to do!
We all have some more mountain training walks booked in and are all looking forward to getting fitter and quicker!
Keep checking back for further updates!
Blencathra done!
10th February 2011
So, at the weekend we completed the trip up all 868 metres of Blencathra.!
We all really enjoyed the walk but some of the less experiences members of the team did find some of it a bit of a struggle with some of the steeper sections. The good thing is we've got a full 4 months to get fitter.
The weather wasn't brilliant but it was a great sense of achievement to complete our first training session. We've uploaded some pictures to the gallery.
Although the team members are doing their own training walks, too, another team walk is organised for a month's time where we will be attempting Scaffell Pike, which is one of the hills we will be walking up in June!
The first step ...
4th February 2011
So, tomorrow (Saturday 5th Feb) we embark on our first team training session up Blencathra in the Lake District.
It stands at 868m so will be a bit of a challenge, especially for the novices amongst us! But we're all really looking forward to it.
Check back soon for photos of the trip!
